Long Live The 5th King of Bhutan
Hi! Ugyen,
Did you take out my details? If you did then, that's excellent and thank you very much for doing it. I was just going to ask you to do that. The thing is I was very much on the moon to see those postcards of our His Majesty that I didn't realise you wanted us to e-mail our contact details to you instead of just puting them here. No wonder why he got the title of "Asian Idol".
Anyways, I hope you have contact detials now, right? I look forward to receiving anything from you. Have fun tomorrow.
Rangchen Druki Gyelkhap, Lha Kyalo!
Ugyen:)
It is now about 1.5 years since I felt in love with Bhutan, where I was invited to attend the launch of your national Linux distribution. Each and every occasion to keep a link with your country is a must for me and I eagerly wait for the day I'll come back. Long live Bhutan and His Majesty the 5th King.

Hello Tshering,
Thanks for the Comment, Glad that You made it here, Hope this blog will keep you attach with home.
I believe that he can lead the nation to the contemporary word.
We visited Bhutan Feb. 4th to Feb. 10 and loved your country. Outside the post office we saw what we believed to be an official car possibly with His Majesty inside it. We wished we could have been there for his celebration. He will be a wonderful king, we're sure. Looking forward to receiving the free post card. Someday we hope to return.
I feel impressed with the king's acceptance of modern and democratic principles blending in harmony with the unspoiled traditions of Bhutan. His concept of Gross National Happiness is indeed extraordinary and is a good standard for measuring the standards of living of citizens, rather than just in material terms. Long live his majesty!
It must be too late to get a postcard, but I still wanted to share a story on your blog.
I was travelling with a group from FarFungPlaces.com during the coronation festivities, from October 29 through November 15. We were travelling east as the Fourth and Fifth Kings processed west from Punakha to Thimpu following the Sacred Dar Ceremony.
The Fourth King and all four Queens passed us on the road as we travelled to Dochula. Then we were able to join the local people at the Dochula Cafeteria in greeting the Fifth King as he approached Druk Wangyal Lhakhang in his vehicle.
It was so moving to see the Fifth King make a personal connection through eye contact with each and every Bhutanese citizen and also to witness the obvious affection each person projected toward him. Without thinking I smiled and said, "Congratulations, Your Majesty!" to which the Fifth King smiled and responded, "Thank you!"
In the U.S. democracy we don't have the same personal connection with our leaders. I wish all the people of Bhutan the best fortune as the country moves more firmly into modernity with its attendant benefits and perils. The transition won't be an easy one, but if any country can successfully handle such a passage it will be Bhutan with its Buddhist heart and high life condition. Tashi delek! I can't wait to return to Bhutan!
