Third King of Bhutan : His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuk

May 2 is remembered by Bhutan and Bhutanese people as the birth anniversary of Third King His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. All the government offices and private will be closed. His majesty was known as the "Father of Modern Bhutan" for his tireless work in getting Bhutan exposed and linked with with world from isolation age. It is the vision of His Majesty that Bhutan take the road of Modern Age and encourage Modern Inventions to assist the local people.

His Majesty also put an end to feudalsim and released all the remaining serfs, at the time when China Captured Tibet, his Majesty built stronger ties with foreign Nations especially with India whom Bhutan share a closed Relation till date. In 1971 Bhutan Joined United Nation which was the a great achievement for a small nation Bhutan. His Majesty Glorious reign saw Bhutan connected with modern roads and Vehicle fly which benefited the people at large in transporting crops which were manually done by people previously.

To Encourage a good government and first step towards democratization, His majesty in National Assembly Empowered the power to the people to remove the King or His Successor with a majority vote of Two Third.
